Importance of Balancing Yin and Yang In Life

Let’s face it. We live in an uncertain world where there is constant chaos and turmoil. Chaos can lead to an unbalanced life…if you allow it. There are ways to instill Yin and Yang in ourselves to find a great balance in life.

According to Chinese mythology, Yin Yang was created from chaos when the universe was created. It was a way to instill harmony in a chaotic world.

We need a little more Yin and Yang in places such as our home, work, and relationships. With so many distractions, it’s no wonder why so many people are anxious. But there are steps to bring harmony in and less stress in our life by adopting some principles of holistic living.

We live in a world where bigger is better, achieving more is greater, the more you make, the better. We are constantly striving for bigger and better.

Do something you enjoy for a living. The number is not the priority if it makes you happy.  Feeding your soul with love and compassion can help with what brings us joy.

Get a hobby for your pleasure. Be happy in the things that you do, not what the world says you should do. It’s about quality of life – not quantity.

They say “find your tribe and love them hard”. Healthy relationships are one way for balance. Ones that can help keep you accountable. Ones that can love you and you love them.  Notice the keyword, “healthy”. Because just as a cluttered house can cause a sense of unbalance in a home, a cluttered friendship can also do the same.

A cluttered friendship can be one where it is emotionally draining, you do not feel loved or loving towards that person. It is ok to cut ties with an unhealthy friendship if it will bring peace to you after doing so.

How we maintain our health can bring balance into our life. It is by simple measures too.  One of the easiest ways is through diet. Adjust your diet to match the seasons. Buy organic or whole foods whenever possible. Also, as often as you can, buy locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoid or limit consumption of red meats, sugars, and salt. We are what we eat. We want optimum health.

Certain foods can weigh us down and make us feel fatigued.  What we put in our body can have effects on it – and not for the good – if we treat it badly.

According to holistic philosophy, one can achieve and maintain excellent health by gaining proper balance in life. It is something that is so natural but not sought out as much because time is of the essence.

We need to cultivate more patience and peace. We live in an instant gratification world. We have Amazon that delivers in 1-2 days and it feels that even that is too long to wait. Everything is at the touch of our fingertips.

But rather than rushing to get home or rushing in general, learn to embrace the time with patience. Take your time and BREATHE.

For our emotional well-being, try to be more optimistic, more glass is half-full than a half-empty type of person.  A negative mind cannot see the beauty in the small things in life. This brings us to… gratitude.

Express genuine gratitude for what you have – no matter how little you have. Rather than focusing on what you do not have, count the many things you are hopeful never to leave. You’ll find comfort in what you currently have and perhaps, even more, will express a grateful heart for such.

In conclusion, everyone wants their Yin and Yang. And they can have it. But we have to slow down, breathe, fill our minds with positivity and obtain optimum health.
